Mr. S.N. SAHAI, SENIOR COUNSEL-FINANCIAL & TELECOM
S. N. Sahai was admitted to the Bar in 1963. He headed the Law Department of the State Bank of India (SBI) at its Corporate Centre in Mumbai for over 8 years as the Chief General Manager (Law). As head of the Law Department of SBI he was responsible for dealing with all the legal matters on behalf of SBI both in India and abroad. His areas of work at SBI included mergers, amalgamations, arbitration, vetting of project financing agreements and high value agreements both with Indian as well as foreign business associates. He was also a member of various Committees constituted by the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for enacting financial regulations. He remained Chairman of the Legal Committee of the Indian Banks Association (IBA) for 5 years. From 2001 to 2004, he was associated with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) as Consultant-Legal and was instrumental in drafting of various telecom rules and regulations, rendering opinions on tariff fixation, networks and related matters. His areas of practice include Banking Laws, Foreign Exchange Regulation, Project Financing, Telecom Laws, Joint Venture & Technology, Corporate & Commercial Laws.
